In 2005, I founded KLN Communications, Inc. (formerly KDV Communications, Inc.) to offer healthcare companies and organizations strategic, results-oriented communications support that is delivered with integrity, reliability and efficiency.
I have nearly 20 years of experience as a healthcare writer, having served MedTech and Pharmaceutical Manufacturers; Healthcare Industry Software, Solution and Service Providers; and Industry Associations.
I have written extensively for clients on healthcare supply chain technologies, topics and issues, including procure-to-pay process automation, content and contract management, industry data standards (UDI, GS1), system integration (e.g. ERP, EHR), inventory management, distribution and logistics, and provider and supplier collaboration. I also have specific expertise in topics related to pharmaceutical quality management, value analysis, and healthcare vendor compliance and credentialing.
Since 2013, I have served as features editor for Healthcare Purchasing News magazine, covering topics related to the operating room (OR), and central sterile/sterile processing departments (CS/SPD). I previously served as a contributing writer for Pharmainfo.net, authoring articles on pharmaceutical industry trends.
I have long had a passion for medical/surgical technologies, particularly surgical instrumentation and patient monitoring – everything from laparoscopy to respiratory therapy. As the healthcare industry shifts from volume to value, I am particularly interested in technologies that can improve patient care quality while reducing costs at the same time.
Before founding KLN Communications, I served as a senior member of the life sciences and technology teams at Mullen Advertising and Rasky Baerlein Strategic Communications, two of Boston’s leading communications agencies. In these roles, I oversaw day-to-day program implementation for a broad range of healthcare clients. Previously, I was the public relations manager for Prevent Blindness Massachusetts, leading a statewide communications campaign to support the organization’s mission of preventing blindness and saving sight.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the University of Hartford. I am a member of the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM).
Current and past clients include GHX, Microline Surgical, Draeger, Sparta Systems, Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM), TECSYS, Cook Medical, Canadian Medical Equipment Protection Plan (CMEPP), Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council (MassMEDIC), Sciessent, Roche Molecular Diagnostics, Owens & Minor, American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE), BB Medical Surgical, GlySure Limited, Starion Instruments, Caritas Christi Healthcare (now Steward Health Care), Families for Depression Awareness, Standing Stone Partners, Bite Communications, Suture Ease and Easter Seals Massachusetts.
I’ve worked with Kara for over 3 years while she has done work for GHX. She has served a critical function as part of our corporate marketing team on many key fronts – but several areas specifically stick out. Kara was instrumental in the roll out of our social media content and processes. Not only did she help us build out a editorial-type calendar, but was also instrumental in developing relevant content for our audience. All at a speed which continues to amaze the team! She is also our key writer for all white papers and case studies. Kara not only serves as the key writer but works directly with our clients to help them articulate the best story possible. Through this process she’s able to connect dots that aren’t always clear for our clients and help them better understand their own success. In addition to having the technical skill to articulate complex healthcare stories, she is an incredibly efficient writer – able to move quickly through a number of different projects. She has been a huge asset to the team, and anyone would feel lucky to work with her!
Kara is the consummate professional. She does her background work, is always prepared and consistently develops superior product in a timely manner. She efficiently integrates herself into the client organization, employing just the right amount of prodding to keep the client on schedule. She writes extremely well, and within 1-2 projects gains enough understanding that future projects require little if any supervision. Kara is one of those rare professionals that combines talent, an incredible work ethic and uncanny ability to get along with anyone. She does exactly what you want a consultant to do, but rarely does…she delivers.
Kara is a wonder at both the planning and execution of effective PR and communications programs. She is very well rounded and provides exceptional client service – handling everything from writing and story development to pitching and placement of articles. She is creative, energetic and brings a real passion to her work.
I’ve worked with Kara Nadeau for the past 10 years. Kara is a public relations professional who provides a wide range of services, including writing projects such as white papers, case studies, bylined articles, news releases and presentations, as well as media relations, customer-facing projects, event management activities, etc. She’s highly professional, yet also, fun, friendly, efficient and a very strong problem solver. Kara continually delivered beyond my expectations. I would highly recommend Kara Nadeau to any organization that wants to build their reputation and grow their business.
I’ve worked with Kara on many life science projects over the past few years. She is an exceptional writer who effectively communicates a story to the defined audience, based on the project. She is easy to work with, very responsive and always delivers on-time. She is my go to 3rd party writer who I have come to rely on for thought leadership content creation.
Kara has handled PR for Microline Surgical for over six years. She is reliable, extremely responsive and turns projects around quickly. When something is needed from the archives, it’s always at her fingertips because she’s so organized. Kara is creative, understands our business and knows where and how to get the word out. She is positive, energetic and a pleasure to work with.
For the past few years, Kara and I have worked together as consultants on communications for Easter Seals. Most of her work has involved pitching stories and consulting with me on public relations issues. I’ve worked in corporate public relations, where I managed the work of several outside PR firms, and was a newspaper reporter,so I know PR from both sides. And without a doubt, Kara is the most talented PR specialist I’ve ever worked with. She is outstanding when it comes to pitching. Kara’s also diligent, thorough and creative. She returns calls promptly and always follows up when needed. It’s a pleasure working with her.
Kara is absolutely amazing. She is incredibly organized and enthusiastic. She handled our event with ease and responded to last minute issues very smoothly.
